What are the day part time periods, and how are they determined if my Project spans multiple time zones?

You can define the day part time periods under the Project Options tab when creating your Project. Up to 25 day parts can be created, and they can overlap. The default day part time periods are:

  • All Day: entire 24 hours
  • Early AM: 12am-6am
  • Peak AM: 6am-10am
  • Mid-Day: 10am-3pm
  • Peak PM: 3pm-7pm
  • Late PM: 7pm-12am

The time period is calculated as:

  • The local time in that Zone for Zone Activity Analysis Projects;
  • The local time at the Origin Zones in O-D Analysis Projects,
  • The local time at the Middle Filter Zones in O-D Analysis with Middle Filter Projects.

For example: If you run an O-D Analysis Project with Origin Zones in California (Pacific Time) and Destination Zones in New York (Eastern Time), the day parts will reflect Pacific Time.
If you run an O-D Analysis with Middle Filter Project with Origin Zones in California (Pacific Time), Middle Filter Zones in Colorado (Mountain Time), and Destination Zones in New York (Eastern Time), the day parts will reflect Mountain Time.
